Think Before You Speak

You know some people can't afford health insurance. They don't qualify for government help. So they go to clinic's and see nurse practitioners. This brings me to the story I'm about to tell you.
I went with a friend to one of these clinic's the other day. She was trying to explain that because of health reasons, she was out of work at the present time. Now I thought that people with little or no income was the point of these places. To help the needy. But while she was telling them about her situation, the person behind the counter started talking down to my friend. You could see my friends shoulders start to slump. I could feel her embarrassment because other people in the waiting area was overhearing the conversation. I wanted to march right up there and in as few of words that I could muster up tell her in not so polite words what she could do with the place if all the employees were as rude as she is. But two wrongs don't make a right and my mouth could have made a difference in the care given to my friend. The receptionist knew some of us didn't appreciate her attitude. As the saying goes, "If looks could kill", well a few was shot her way.
We all have fallen on hard times in our life. I know I have and I've had help to get back on my feet again. What I can't understand is why some people aren't happy people, then they want others to be just as miserable as they are. People like that receptionist at the clinic. Just because she was in the position she is, she talks to people like they are below her and makes them feel like dirt.
So no matter how bad you feel, never make another person feel small or beneath you. We are all human, with feelings. We all bleed red blood. I think we all should think before we speak, because what goes around, comes around. It could be us that is made to feel like we are dirt on someones shoe.
